Vinyl:

Live at the Whisky, LA

A: Magazine Love
B: Cholo Jump

Both tracks live at the Whisky, LA, 9-14-78
Meeuw Records MM024, red vinyl, 400 copies.

Demos 1977 Volume One

A1. I Don't Want Anything
A2. Mater Dolores
B1. Punish or Be Damned
7", Stomachache ("Dolor del Estamago")

Product of first Screamers demo session,
recorded 7-7-77 on a TEAC 2340 4-Track,
Produced by Pat Garrett. Notes: The sound is fair, suffering from generational loss and very audiable hiss. Better recordings exist.

Live At The Masque Dec 78

A1. Punish or Be Damned
B1. Vertigo (Let's Go)
C1. Magazine Love
D1. Peer Pressure

2x7"

All tracks live at the Masque, 12-16-77. Nice recording of a what must have been a wild show. Remember to play at 45 RPM.

Scuzzy the Death Cone Clown '78 Demos

A1. "And the Beat Goes On" (I'm A Mensch)
B1. The Scream
B2. Magazine Love
C1. Peer Pressure
C2. "Need a Head-On" (Why The World)
D1. Punish or be Damned
 2x7", Death Cone Records
A1, B1, C2: Late 1978(?) produced by Rene Daalder and David Campbell. C2 recorded for film "Population One."
B2, C1, D1: First Screamers demo session, 7-7-77 on a TEAC 2340 4-Track, produced by Pat Garrett.

Notes: Sort of an odd collection of demos, alternating between the Screamer's first demo session in the summer of '77 and perhaps their last, with Rene Daalder and David Cambell.
Track A1 is incorrectly listed on the record as "And the Beat Goes On". Its proper title is "I'm a Mensch". Track C2 is incorrectly listed as "Need A Head-On". Its proper title is "Why The World". The sound quality is pretty wretched, but this is one of the only places you will find these recordings.

DEMOS 1977-78

1. The Beat Goes On
2. Thru the Flames (She Frightens)
3. Sex Boy
4. (If I Can't Have What I Want) I Don't Want Anything
5. She's the Girl (The Girl In The Car With The Glasses And The Gun)
6. I Wanna Hurt
7. 122 Hours Of Fear (1)
8. 122 Hours Of Fear (2)
9. Punish Or Be Damned
10. Government Love Affair (Don't Pay The Whore)
11. Peer Pressure
12. In A Better World
13. Vertigo
14. Magazine Love
15. It's A Violent World

All tracks recorded "live" in one session in Summer 1978.
Produced By Geza X, recorded on a 4-track. The ideal intro to the Screamers. A high pitched whine is audible, but does not distract from overall good sound quality. A valid complaint, though, is the splitting of "122 Hours of Fear" in half over the seam of both sides of the record.

1-11. A complete concert, date and place unknown, though probably early 1978.(tape) Probably from an outlying area of Los Angeles (Tomata says, "This is our big valley debut"). Guess: Arcadia 3-15-78???
14. A snippet of a show, also date and place unknown. (tape) Probably early 1978. Tomata uses the same "I saw your face in a magazine." bit as at the Whisky 1-6-78 and 1-7-78.
15-18. Masque, LA, 12-16-77. Copy of "Masque Dec 78" EP
19-20, 23. From SDCC '78 Demos. Produced by David Campbell and Rene Daalder, probably late 1978. Recorded possibly late 1978. 23 was on soundtrack for "Population One."

16. Eva Braun - From Video
17. Now You See Us Now You Don't (Why The World)
18. Peer Pressure (listed but not on CD)

CDR, Moon Records
P.O. Box 6456 Fullerton, CA 92834

1-7. From Target Video, 9-2-78 Mabuhay Gdns, SF. Sound quality good, but faulty transcription.
8-10 + 14-15. Geza X 4 Track Demos, Summer 1978, Same source as Demos 77-78 LP.
11-12: Pat Garrett 4-track Demos, 7-7-77.
13, 17. From SDCC '78 Demos. Recorded by David Campbell and Rene Daalder possibly late 1978. 17 was on soundtrack for "Population One."
16. A video was made for Eva Braun, and this is apparently the soundtrack.

An exceptional CD. Although tracks 1-7 are faulty and the SDCC tracks sound as bad
as any other SDCC '78 transcriptions, the other tracks are essential. Sourced from
the tapes which mastered the Demos 77-78 LP and 77 Demos Vol.1, the sound quality,
while not ever better than 'demo', matches or surpasses any other source known.
Those from the 7-7-77 Demo session are quite a revelation. The "Video" from which the
second Eva Braun was taken is still unknown.
